Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Food Safety and Quality Assurance Leader to oversee all aspects of food safety and quality. This role is responsible for building and leading a high-performing QA team, cultivating a company-wide culture of food safety and quality, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and certification standards. The ideal candidate will operate with a relentless commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all food safety and QA initiatives, including interactions with customers, suppliers, regulatory bodies (USDA, FDA), and certification agencies (SQF, MSC).
- Serve as the primary QA contact for meat and seafood suppliers, ingredient suppliers, and packaging suppliers.
- Manage HACCP programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee internal/external audits.
- Monitor product quality and safety across the supply chain, from receiving to delivery.
- Analyze quality trends, investigate issues, and lead corrective actions.
- Build and mentor the QA team while delivering food safety training and coaching for all employees.
Requirements:
- B.S. or M.S. in Food Science or related field
- 3–5 years of leadership in food safety/QA in a food processing environment (preferably fresh proteins)
- HACCP Seafood Certification , SQF Practitioner, and expert knowledge of PCQI, GMP, GFSI, USDA, and FDA regulations
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and leadership abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to work in varied environments
