Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer and manage incoming calls, directing them to the appropriate staff members.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring optimal use of the physician's time.
- Verify patient information and update electronic medical records accurately.
- Collect co-pays and process payments, providing receipts as necessary.
- Assist patients with completing necessary forms and documentation.
- Maintain the reception area, ensuring it is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and deliveries.
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure efficient patient flow and address any scheduling issues.
- Handle sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform other administrative tasks as assigned by the office manager or physician.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in office administration or medical reception is a plus.
- Proven experience as a receptionist or in a customer service role, preferably in a medical setting.
- Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and office software (e.g., MS Office).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations is preferred.
