Job Description

University Preparatory Charter School for Young Men is currently seeking candidates for a Special Education Teacher position for the 2025-2026 school year.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive School Maintenance Worker to join our team. This position requires a reliable individual to assist with repairs, maintenance, and upkeep of school facilities and grounds. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building Repairs: Perform minor and major repairs on school buildings, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work, ensuring all issues are resolved promptly.
  • Facility Maintenance: Conduct routine checks of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, lighting, plumbing, and other essential infrastructure, ensuring everything operates efficiently.
  • Groundskeeping: Maintain school grounds, including mowing, landscaping, trimming, snow removal, and litter control to ensure a clean and safe environment year-round.
  • Cleaning: Assist with general cleaning duties within the school, including cleaning common areas, restrooms, classrooms, hallways, and cafeterias when necessary.
  • Safety Compliance: Monitor and maintain school facilities for safety hazards, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain supplies and tools needed for repairs and cleaning, notifying supervisors when new inventory is required.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with school staff and management to prioritize and complete maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Event Support: Provide support during school events and activities by setting up or taking down equipment, ensuring the building and grounds are in optimal condition.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in facility maintenance, repairs, or groundskeeping preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Willingness to perform cleaning tasks and assist with various maintenance duties.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects as needed (up to 50 lbs).
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, helpful attitude towards staff and students.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours as needed for emergency repairs or special events.

Working Conditions:

  • Work will be performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Some lifting and physical labor required.
  • Occasional after-hours work may be needed for emergencies.
