Hardware Engineering’s capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation.Within the Hardware Engineering Organization, the Undersea, Sensors & Structures (USS) Department leads the mechanical design, development, and integration of a diverse set of products, including but not limited to undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms, shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers. The USS department is looking for a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer, located in Marlborough, MA.What You Will DoPerform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.Develop mechanical designs from initial concept to formal technical data package generation (engineering drawings, models) and culminating in initial builds, testing, transition to production, and production supportWork with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals.Participate in design peer reviews, resolve action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisionsMentor and guide less experienced engineersOccasional CONUS travel to customer sites or suppliers is generally required. International and longer duration travel assignments may be available but optionalQualifications You Must HaveTypically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experienceA minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering designDemonstrated ability to solve difficult problems while working as part of a teamExperience in leading small development efforts and teams with cost and schedule responsibilityExperience estimating project / tasks level of effortStrong communication skillset with ability to articulate, in both oral and written form, to technical, non-technical and management audiencesExperience with configuration management systems. Experience with 3-D modeling and Engineering Documentation practices.The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
