Sr. SCCM Systems Security Engineer
Location: Washington, D.C. (5 Days Onsite)

About the Role
We are seeking a Sr. SCCM Systems Security Engineer to manage server patching, system hardening, and security compliance in a mission-critical environment. This role requires a strong security mindset , ensuring that patch deployments and system updates do not introduce vulnerabilities while maintaining compliance with federal security standards . The ideal candidate will have experience with SCCM, image deployments, Apache/Tomcat servers, and security frameworks such as FISMA and RMF .
Key Responsibilities
Patch Management & Security Compliance
- Patch servers and endpoints , ensuring timely deployment while maintaining security posture .
- Assess security impacts of patching , including vulnerability remediation, testing patches, and mitigating potential risks .
- Identify and remediate Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) to enhance system security.
- Ensure compliance with FISMA, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and other federal security standards .
System Deployment & Configuration
- Manage image deployments to ensure efficient and secure system rollouts.
- Configure and maintain Apache/Tomcat servers , optimizing security and performance.
- Support the management of file storage appliances to ensure secure data handling.
Collaboration & Incident Response
- Work closely with security teams and system administrators to maintain a secure and compliant environment.
- Utilize Jira, MS Teams, and SharePoint for tracking tasks, collaboration, and documentation.
- Respond to security incidents and system vulnerabilities , ensuring quick resolution and mitigation.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Assist in ServiceNow integration and automation for ticketing, asset management, and workflow optimization (preferred).
- Develop and document best practices for patch management, security hardening, and compliance reporting .
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience with SCCM , including patch deployment and system updates.
- Strong understanding of security vulnerabilities , including CVE assessments, risk mitigation, and compliance frameworks (FISMA, RMF).
- Hands-on experience with image deployments for enterprise environments.
- Experience with Apache/Tomcat servers for security configuration and maintenance.
- Familiarity with file storage appliances (preferred).
- Experience working with Jira, MS Teams, and SharePoint for collaboration and tracking.
Preferred Skills
- Experience using ServiceNow for IT service management and automation.
- Strong background in security best practices related to system patching and vulnerability management.
- Experience working in federal security environments with compliance-driven security operations.
